STORY

ALEXANDER'S

Diagnosed with ETMR (embryonal tumour with multilayered rosettes), Alexander underwent two brain surgeries, several rounds of chemotherapy, and 31 rounds of radiation. While he braved it like a little man, he still had the heart of a child.

On October 23, 2010, Alexander passed away in the arms of his parents. Although he went through so much in his short life, he never cried, never complained. Even near the end when he couldn't walk or see properly, he just wanted to play. Alexander leaves behind a legacy of love and hope, as his parents donated his brain and tumour to research, so that one day, there will be a cure for ETMR.

Little Hero

"I ride to raise awareness that kids are still being diagnosed with cancer and we can something about it. The camaraderie amongst the riders, volunteers and organizers is so warm. We realize we can do 'hard things' even though it's only a tiny fraction of the hard things our kids have gone through. Also, being involved in the ride gives me a space to say Joel's name."
