Finn

Finn was only three months old when he was diagnosed with cancer. Not even a year old and the only world he knew was cancer - needles, chemo, dressing changes, and hospital stays.

"It was so unreal because he's so little," says Finn's mother Inge. "It was like a slap in the face, and it just kept hitting us hard and fast. There was no time to think or feel. We were in survival mode."

As with most childhood cancer survivors, Finn is facing a lifetime of complex health issues related to the treatments that saved his life. To manage these side effects, he sees a battalion of medical specialists.

Fortunately, he and his little brother Bodi get to experience the magic of camp every summer. They also attend our PEER exercise program and other outreach programs.

“I don’t know what we would do without Kids Cancer Care,” says Inge. “We have found a community of support with people who get it. I think people can underestimate the impact of forced isolation on the child and family. You’re literally housebound because visiting a grocery store and meeting a coughing child as you come around the corner can be fatal. These camps and programs are the only things we can do.”
